the evening. cooler air filters into the state on tuesday with highs only in the 50s for the rest of the week. first on 13... two people are recovering this morning after a car went flying into a garage. police say it started when a stolen car went off the roadway. it happened around 9-30 last night at the intersection of ovid and second avenue in des moines. police were chasing the stolen vehicle when it hit a telephone pole... and crashed into the garage. two people in the car were sent to the hospital. no word on their conditions or any arrests as of this morning. benton county authorities are investigating a mysterious death this morning. a woman's body was found yesterday on a trail near shellsburg. it started when a neighbor discovered his uck had been stolen. he found it, crashed on the 59th street trail. he also found blood...
woman's body. the man says he believes the person who stole the vehicle was dating the victim... and it appears there was some sort of struggle. no word on any arrests this morning. officers with the iowa and illinois d- n-r are on the search this morning for a missing boater... they say the 50-year old fell off a boat on the mississippi river. it happened saturday night near the town of buffalo... that's about 15 minutes southwest of davenport. officers conducted extensive searches yesterday using sonar, but were unsuccessful. "tomorrow we'll have someone on the water all day long pretty much doing searches and then we will continue throughout the week as we can with searches. its hard to pull man power to run 8 hour shift every day." police say several other people were on the boat... but none of them saw the man fall in. police have yet to say what caused the
a southeast iowa girl who was at the center of a weekend amber alert is back home today... 13-year old paige johnstone of ottumwa was reported missing from her home friday night. saturday authorities triggered an amber alert. about two hours later... police pulled over 19-year-old kevin ramirez in georgia. they found the girl in his truck un- harmed. he is being charged with child stealing and enticing of a minor. both are felonies with cold weather coming, the des moines parks department is setting aside time to prepare. crews took advantage of the warmer weather over the weekend to get a start on the winterizing process. that includes shutting off all the water, flushing irrigation lines and around 2 weeks to prep the city's 70 parks. the department says if you're planning on

as harvest wraps up, drivers are reminded to look out for slow moving machinery. another group spent the weekend focused on feeding iowans this weekend. union park united methodist church held a concert and potluck yesterday. all money went to help the "des moines religious council's food pantry" hand out meals. the pantry is expected to help some 15-thousand people this year. that's more than ever before. the church was hoping to raise 5 - thousand dollars with the event, but it doubled its goal weve raised, idk were pretty close to 85 hundred dollars. i'm thinking that by the time we close the account we will be between 9 thousand and 10 thousand dollars in just wonderful people stepping up and sharing their talents the food pantry is asking for donations of both food and cash. the iowa hawkeyes have improved their position without lifting
